Bob Hudson Posted July 7, 2017 Share #1 Posted July 7, 2017 This flag was signed by members of the 16th Signal Operations Bn. which was busy in the Pacific War. I call this a "unit" flag because it has corner ties and was made to be flown, unlike the more common "good luck" flags Japanese soldiers carried folded in a pocket. Bob Hudson Posted July 9, 2017 Author Share #7 Posted July 9, 2017 I photographed a random sample of names this morning and found a lot of them from Brooklyn and other areas around NYC, Here's the backside (this is 27 inches wide)
Bob Hudson Posted July 9, 2017 Author Share #8 Posted July 9, 2017 This unit received three campaign arrowheads. Am I correct in thinking that is for being part of the spearheaded of an invasion, landing in the first waves. I found a couple brief items about their service, including setting up Sixth Army message center, radio, code rooms, etc in Kyoto after the occupation of Japan.
