Naval Aviator Boots 1963

Recommended Posts

Found this nice pair of 1963 Brown boots. Steel toes, not named but in good shape. Size 9M. I have been looking awhile for boots from this era and was glad to get this pair.

Nice pair of the second model of USN fliying boots. The first model had soles with the lined design.

The early type of those boots was the "Arrowhead" model designed for Mk IV high pressure suit. They had a zipper to open/close. However, they have been used by some USN / USMC flyers without the high pressure suit.

I've been lucked enough to get three pairs from the same NFO, some years ago.

Found another set of boots. Feb 1966 size 11-1/2 made by H. W. Brown. This set has had the soles re-done with a vibrant lug sole.

Ever since Bebel showed us the "Arrowhead" high pressure suit boots I have been on a hunt for a pair. These boots were pretty hard to find. I finally found a pair of the MK IV "Arrowhead" boots listed as vintage "motorcycle boots" on eBay. They are in remarkable condition and have a 1962 date inside. Here is a picture of the boots and a picture of the same type boot being worn by a Naval Aviator in 1961.

I found a neat picture of NASA Astronaut Gordon Cooper wearing a pair of these boots.
