Timberwolf Posted July 4, 2017 Share #1 Posted July 4, 2017 Interesting coastie jumper from a DDay vet. I just picked up off eBay from the grandson. CM3c Louis Bock, initially served in the USS Might doing anti-sub patrols and on DDay served on LCI-350 helping to land troops in Utah beach. He later went through a salvage diver/sub rescue course which had him training on the ex-liner Normandie. Jumper has an interesting Salvage Diver Qualification patch which I've never seen before. Hope you enjoy1

deadpeoplesjunk Posted July 28, 2017 Share #5 Posted July 28, 2017 I can't find any actual verification, but every jumper I have with a red "s" has been from someone qualified as a submarine salvage diver
sigsaye Posted July 28, 2017 Share #6 Posted July 28, 2017 So, couple of interesting things here. In the photo, the Sailor is a Seaman First Class with the post '44 Amphibious Forces Patch. Jumper has Carpenters Mate Third Class with Salvage Diver Mark. Busy Man. As for the red "S", John Stacey says there is no documentation that it means anything other than a manufacturer variation. I'd prefer the one with the red myself ( the individual had to buy this stuff, it was not "issued").
deadpeoplesjunk Posted August 8, 2017 Share #7 Posted August 8, 2017 By the way, if he trained on the Normandie, I believe that was pier
