teufelhunde.ret Posted October 24, 2008 Share #1 Posted October 24, 2008 Congrats to our own Mike Manifor (AKA usmcaviator) on this acquisition last night - a Live Auction on ebay.... http://cgi.liveauctions.ebay.com/ws/eBayIS...T&viewitem= as presented by Hartzell's Auction Gallery. you will certainly not see these often - perhaps once in a decade something like this comes around - and perhaps a price setting precedence. Bob Hudson Posted October 24, 2008 Share #3 Posted October 24, 2008 The EGA's look like the pair of 1892 EGA's I sold a year ago - those alone went for $3,000 so to get the EGA's and boards for another $2K is a nice find. Those solid silver EGA's are a joy to behold: my bother-in-law, a jeweler who knows nothing about militaria or collecting was quite impressed when I showed my pair to him before I sold them. We have some details of that style in our EGA reference forum at http://www.usmilitariaforum.com/forums/ind...showtopic=11607 and here's one of those pieces side-by-side with an enlargement of one of the auction pieces:
Brig Posted October 31, 2008 Share #4 Posted October 31, 2008 must say, some fine examples that seldom come along. Not surprised that the good Major got them, good to see they will be well enjoyed and preserved
