cwnorma Posted February 16, 2007 Share #1 Posted February 16, 2007 Part 3 of my ongoing series of WW1 Women's uniforms This overcoat is the type worn by women of the Navy Nurse Corps. Identified to Navy Nurse R. Davidson. Although generally similar to other womens uniform overcoats of the period, it's distinguishing characteristics are: - 12 button double breasted front - Two button self belt - Two button turn back cuffs. Although over 11,000 Yeomanettes served in the Navy during WW1, far fewer (perhaps only 1000) Navy Nurses served. WW1 Navy Nurse Corps items are extremely hard to find.
