VAW 12 Det 41

Here is a nice pick up, from either the USS Independence or the USS Saratoga Med cruise of 1960-1961.

I have found that VAW 12 had a Det 41 on both carriers. I cannot figure out the XLI on the helmet, I know it is 61 in roman numerals but the CV 61 is the Ranger, she never did a med cruise.

This is the time when VAW 12 flew the Willie Fudd

I believe that the roman numerals spell out 41 (not 61)

You are correct I don't know what I was thinking... Det 41.... Duh!
