Steve S. Posted June 16, 2017 Share #1 Posted June 16, 2017 This one was a real mess when I started on it. Lots of paint including a gold enamel job done with a brush. This is the best interpretation I could get trying to work through the layers of paint & see what was underneath the mess & on top of the original gold paint job. Steve S. Posted June 18, 2017 Author Share #3 Posted June 18, 2017 No, Had bunch of stuff going on in the paint shop at the time & had it sanded & in the mix before I even thought to take a pic.

jerry_k Posted June 21, 2017 Share #6 Posted June 21, 2017 Im not expert in Post WW2 Navy helmet. But it not looks too bright and polished? More like super hero helmet than US NAVY pilot? Regards, Jerry
phantomfixer Posted June 21, 2017 Share #7 Posted June 21, 2017 But Navy pilots are superheroes...
Steve S. Posted June 21, 2017 Author Share #8 Posted June 21, 2017 Ha! I usually let things cure out about a month, then hand rub with compound, but not polish afterwards. Dulls it down to look like the old enamel. I do the same with the old vintage Harley frames/chassis parts & it works out well.
