67Rally Posted June 15, 2017 Share #1 Posted June 15, 2017 Proof that the bond of brotherhood among those who serve together remains in tact throughout the decade always seems to be shown to me. Yesterday, one of the guys I served with, presented me with a piece of wood...a small plank of teak...that once covered the main deck of the USS Colorado battleship. I have the provenance to go with the piece of deck plank. As the audience looks on, Petty Officer 1st Class William McKenna shows USS Colorado crewmember Whittaker “Moose” Hernion the ceremonial plank. The small piece of USS Colorado that I now own. Though I have no personal association to this ship (my uncle was a sailor aboard the Tennessee, California and Pennsylvania during his WWI and interwar naval career), I am proud to be the caretaker of this piece of the Buckin' Bronco.
