gauthieb3sxz Posted June 14, 2017 Share #7 Posted June 14, 2017 Nice shot - it actually appears to be a tintype in a Thermoplastic Union Case. This one almost looks too good to be true.....

gwb123 Posted June 15, 2017 Share #11 Posted June 15, 2017 I'm not a Civil War expert by any means, but instead of Bowie knife, I am wondering if that is what is referred to as a Confederate Artillery Sword. I believe some of them were modeled after the ancient Roman gladius. scottiques Posted June 18, 2017 Share #13 Posted June 18, 2017 GREAT image of a double armed reb!! Agree with previous poster on it not being a daguerreotype-- it appears to be a tintype but could be an ambrotype. Scott

USCapturephotos Posted September 3, 2017 Share #15 Posted September 3, 2017 Oh, I forgot to mention that I believe that is a North Carolina jacket with the dark shoulder straps. Paul
scottiques Posted September 13, 2017 Share #16 Posted September 13, 2017 Oh, I forgot to mention that I believe that is a North Carolina jacket with the dark shoulder straps. Paul While the dark shoulder straps give it a NC appearance the rest seems to be off. The NC sack coat didn't have dark collar or cuff trim and only had 6 buttons. The overall appearance of the jacket in the image is that it is a shell jacket (cut at the waist) vs. the NC sack coat that extends down below the waist. Put me on the list if you decide to part with it! Scott
