Picked these up today, at the local auction

A USAF survival kit snare kit, with envelope, and instructions...was already opened,

and a SRU-18 shovel, axe, saw combo...the saw is inside the handel..

was with old boy scout stuff..kinda cool....

also a brass US marked compass by Waltham, not pictured..

Snare kit will flip...and keep the axe, shovel for awhile anyway

Hey Phantomfixer did you ever get any info on these Kit?  Are these USAF Vietnam era kits?  Do they have any value?

Navybean, are you asking about the SRU-18 Shovel, Axe, Saw Combo, or the Snare kit?

The SRU-18 kit

They do have value,  people snatch them up pretty quick when they come available.   They vary in prices from like 50 and up depending on shape.  Seen a few of em recently that people mustve used personally over the years using a surplus tool so they had rust and scuffs and sold for 50.  Mint unused ones are a bit more when Ive seen them sell.

The SRU-18 was first used in the early 1960's as a component in the B-58 Hustler dedicated survival kit.  Those were obtained from Gloy's Import Company. The USAF Drawings for the tool were done in 1962.  There are a couple of versions of the tool.  The ones in the case shown in the post are from the 1962 drawing and were used in Vietnam and are still listed as an optional component today.  The latest contract number for them I have seen is 1988.

There was also a version of the tool that was in a drawstring bag. The difference in the tools is the Axe / Saw blade has a sharpened pry bar blade opposite the saw blade and the ones in the holster do not.

Great info, thanks the follow up. I have a opportunity to purchase one that looks like the original post.
