It’s not definitive but it says he was shipped out in Early-January 1945. And I do presume he saw combat but doesn’t show where. Sadly the helmet isn’t named to him
USMC_COLLECTOR Posted January 14, 2022 Share #177 Posted January 14, 2022 Darn! My Great Uncle was a veteran of Iwo Jima. Had multiple close calls that day! Don't know where his stuff went though... 17 hours ago, JerryTheGerman said: It’s not definitive but it says he was shipped out in Early-January 1945. Blackhat Posted January 21, 2022 Share #180 Posted January 21, 2022 Some great gear here, my favourite piece would be this salty USMC M1912 pistol belt. It is named, but illegible. Cheers Sean
ccyooper Posted February 11, 2022 Share #181 Posted February 11, 2022 This Knapsack or pouch was made from from about 4 1903 Springfield rifle breech covers. While maybe not practical I found it with a bunch of old WWI items several years ago so I believe it was made in the WWI timeframe.

bobcat87 Posted April 25, 2022 Share #184 Posted April 25, 2022 Here is my favorite piece. This is a Seiko MAC-V SOG 6119-8100 from 1968. This is the best documented example of all the variations of the watch that I am aware of. It is the same watch shown and storied in Running Recon on page 94. I was told by my watchmaker when the watch was serviced that it looked new inside. He also told me the movement still had the original dried up whale oil from the 60's inside showing that the watch was receiving its first service since the war. I have heard there were only @300 pieces issued back then of this model. Mine is displayed on an original Vietnam band with an era wrist compass. E4B Posted January 8, 2023 Share #187 Posted January 8, 2023 This is one of my favorite pieces. It is a canteen from 1918 that was engraved by the individual named. I was able to do some research and found that he enlisted in 1942 in the Army and was assigned to the Hawaii Division. A little more digging showed that he was a two war Veteran (WWII and Korea) in the Army Air Corps and later USAF. He ended his career as a MSgt and lived a long life. I found his resting place on findagrave. Rest in peace and thank you for your service MSgt Scarce.
rodteague Posted February 4, 2023 Share #188 Posted February 4, 2023 One of my favorite rucks is USMC “CASE ELECTRONIC COMMUNICATION EQUIPMENT “ LC2 medium ALICE field pack. Like the army version it has the Velcro antenna slit; however, it is unique because the internal radio pouch is larger and extends to the bottom of the pack. It also has a foam pad incorporated into 3/4’s of the back panel. The NSN is a USMC number/contract. Not DOD or any other branch. I have two, one is slightly damaged and I use it w/o the frame as a EDC truck bag. It has become my favorite piece of ALICE gear due to it’s comfort and utility

The Rooster Posted September 3, 2023 Share #194 Posted September 3, 2023 I just picked up these two M2 Ammunition vests. I read they were made to carry Bazooka Rockets but were also used to carry mortar rounds cans of M1 and machine gun ammo etc etc...

Amburgey of Baker Company, 2nd Raider Battalion. During the battle of Midway, he was one of the few raiders of Baker company to be sent over to Midway in the case of a Japanese counter attack. He participated in the Makin raid, the long patrol on Guadalcanal, and transferred to Easy company to take part in the battle of Bougainville. After transferring to D co, 2nd Battalion, 28th Marines he took part in the battle of Iwo Jima and was wounded on D-Day via gunshot wound. He passed in 2014. His name in the pack written in purple as seen in many service greens. Hello, This pack belonged to my dad! I am the only living child of Wilfred Garrett Amburgey.
