WOW!!! Nice work keeping this all together Randy! It was definitely worth the "price of the ticket" and you have a new friend as well.

Great job on the research,

Thanks Kurt, I appreciate the kudos!

I wanted to have my facts straight before I posted and the research has been the fun part. He was an interesting aviator to say the least and remained lifelong friends with Daniel Orr. Both were career Air Force men, but Capt. Gluck returned to the U.S. after his wartime service and continued to work with his Father in commercial business.

Very nice set Randy. I was also in the bidding on this one. Nice group and as Kurt said, it's great you got to keep it all together.

B-24D 41-11613 "The Blue Streak" of 514th BS, 376th BG, 9th AF. Originally named "Florine Ju Ju" then 'Teggie Ann'. The aircraft was a veteran of the first high level Ploesti mission in 1942, but not part of the 1943 low level raid. The A/C went on to survive 110 missions with the 376th bomb group and was sent home for a war bond tour.

I did see those pics and they're great. He must have felt very lucky to be chatting it up on the microphone with "The Blue Streak" in the background!

TWM is third from the left on the top pic and fourth from the right in the bottom pic.

I was mistaken about "Solid John" as it didn't crash upon takeoff. According to 376th BG history the crackup of Aircraft No. 87 was upon returning from a mission to Tato, Greece, on December 14, 1943. This was the 200th mission for the group.

Bringing this back up in honor of the men who flew on the Ploesti Raid 74 years ago!

I received a small file from NPRC, but they did have a nice pic of him toward the end of his career. His duty history included his Air Rescue Service from units in Florida and France in the early 1950's. Then he did a stint at the AFROTC Detachment at Michigan State University. In 1960 he transitioned to B-52 aircraft, serving as a Navigator, Chief of Current Operations and finally as the Chief, Programming Section, HQ 465th Bomb Wing at Robins AFB, GA, retiring in 1964.

Don't know much about engraving styles or where they were done. I just found these two that just came from the grandson of the vet. From some research I think he was with the 96th BG. Can't say for sure. Still researching.
