triplecanopy Posted May 30, 2017 #1 Posted May 30, 2017 Here are three hallmarks that I have had a while and cannot identify the maker. The first is marked H24N. There are no other marks and it is a clutch back parachute badge. It is die stamped.
triplecanopy Posted May 30, 2017 Author #2 Posted May 30, 2017 Second unknown is this basic parachute badge simply marked 3G. It also has the initials "MK" scratched on the back and this badge is well worn and has the suspension lines polished away. It has been bent so that the canopy is convex or pushed out slightly. It appears to be sterling, but not tested. It is die struck. Any clue who the maker was?
triplecanopy Posted May 30, 2017 Author #3 Posted May 30, 2017 This is another unknown I have had for years. I can't recall when I got it either. It is deeply marked J.J.W. It has a British style pin with a "C" clasp. I don't think this one is stamped. It may be cast. It has a single combat jump star on the left wing as the viewer see it. Maybe a copy or phony wing for collectors. Anyone see this mark before?
triplecanopy Posted May 30, 2017 Author #4 Posted May 30, 2017 Here are all three together. This angle may be a bit clearer.
triplecanopy Posted May 31, 2017 Author #5 Posted May 31, 2017 After a bit of searching, I found that 3G is an old hallmark for IRA Green. That company was started in 1943 and is still in business. Evidently 3G was an early hallmark that I had overlooked.
triplecanopy Posted May 31, 2017 Author #6 Posted May 31, 2017 I do believe that the H24N is a hallmark used by Hilborn & Hamburger. Another one solved. Thanks.
