No Quarter

Hello, I have this 1918 canteen cover and was wondering if it is standard issue? The backside looks strange to me. It also has a name stamped but only half is visible. Sam Schwar- it then fades out. If anyone can still find out who he was if possible that would be great!

It was modified at some point to wear on a belt.

Im guessing if you look inside you will see where the stitching was from the removed hanger.

Some were done in the military some done after the fact.Hard to pin it down unless you can track it or buy directly from the person who owned it originally.

The fabricated hanger looks like hbt material.
