Nkomo Posted October 20, 2008 Share #2 Posted October 20, 2008 I also collect Marine items from Beirut. Here is fully id'd large grouping that I bought awhile back. I have several other items from that operation, but there never seems to be much interest in this time period in history and have not posted them. Anyway, here is the link: http://www.usmilitariaforum.com/forums/ind...Beirut+grouping Arch

Nkomo Posted October 23, 2008 Share #5 Posted October 23, 2008 A Marine's Eulogy 10/23/83 And when thye gaze on heavens scenes, They will find the streets are guarded by United States Marines ________________________________________________________________________________ DEAR GOD, 200 MEN REPORTED FOR DUTY TODAY STRAIGHT FROM BEIRUT AND HARM'S WAY. A NATION MOURNS IN SHOCKED DISBELIEF, A MOTHER CRIES, A FATHER WEEPS. A YOUNG WIFE STARES BY THE MANTLE SIDE, THROUGH A VEIL OF TEARS AT HER MARINE WHO DIED. YES WE'RE HURT, AND THEY MADE US BLEED, THIS SATANIC ACT, THIS INSIDIOUS DEED. AND A GREAT NATION WILL BOW ITS HEAD AND WITH PRIDEFUL DIGNITY , BID FAREWELLTO ITS DEAD. BUT AMERICANS WON'T CRY DEFEAT BECAUSE THEY KNOW THAT THEIR MARINES NEVER RETREAT. DEAR GOD,THESE MARINES ARE STRONG AND TRUE AND THEY'LL STAND PROUD AND SHARPLY SALUTE YOU. AND AS THEY TAKE UP POSITIONS ALONG HEAVENS WAY, PLEASE PAUSE TO GIVE THEM OUR LOVE EVERYDAY. ONE DAY WE WILL STAND ALONGSIDE YOU, ON THE PARADE DECK AS THEY PASS REVIEW. UNTIL THEN CHERISH, AS WE KNOW YOU WILL, OUR GALLANT YOUNG MARINES IN CLOSE ORDER DRILL. WE CAN'T BUT QUESTION WHY YOU SENT THEM ORDERS TO REPORT ON HIGH. PARENTS AND WIVES COULD FEEL HATRED AND RANCOR, BUT THATS NOT THE WAY OF THE GLOBE AND ANCHOR. THESE WERE OUR SONS, A PRECIOUS GIFT, AND WE NURTURED THEM WITH LOVE THAT NEVER QUIT. WE WATCHED THEM GROW AND BOUNCED THEM ON OUR KNEE AND NOW IN THE PRIME OF MANHOOD, WE ENTRUST THEM TO THEE. GUARD THESE YOUNG SOULS WHOSE FLAMES WERE SO BRIEF, HELP US TOO, TO BEAR OUR GRIEF. PARENTS AND WIVES DON'T WEAR OLVE GREENS, NONTHELESS, OUR SONS AND HUSBADS TAUGHT US TO BE GOOD MARINES. WE KNOW YOU'LL BE THERE TO HELP US CARRY ON, AND WE'LL DRAW SOLACE FROM THE BEAUTIFUL MEMORIES OF DAYS BYGONE. THERE WILL STILL BE LOTS OF TEARS AND PAIN AT EVERY CURVE. BUT IN THIS STRIFE, WE'LL LIVE FOR LIFE, AND AS GOOD MARINES NOT LOSE OUR NERVE. DEAR GOD, WE DO BEG YOU WITH FERVANT REFRAIN, DON'T LET OUR MEN DIE IN THIS WAY AGAIN. SENT AS PEaCE-KEEPERS ABROAD, NOT INTENDED TO FIGHT, CUT DOWN BY MURDEROUS ASSASSIN IN THE DEAD OF NIGHT. IF OTHER MOST GO FORTH UNDER THE BANNER OF THE CORPS, LET THEM FIGHT AS MARINES FOR THE MISSION THEY TRAINED FOR. SHIELD US FROM CONFLICT, IF YOU CAN, BUT IF THERE MUST BE A FIGHT, WE THANK YOU GOD, FOR THESE FIGHTING MEN. DONALD J. BUZNEY, U.S.M.C. , 1967-1971 ________________________________________________________________________________
Nkomo Posted October 23, 2008 Share #6 Posted October 23, 2008 This was copied directly from a sheet they gave out at the memorial service for the US Marines who died in Beirut, Lebanon on October 23, 1983. May God continue to be with the familes who lost loved ones that day. May God watch over all our soldiers where ever they may be. Arch

Brig Posted January 17, 2013 Share #11 Posted January 17, 2013 I'm sure there is...though probably not bringing high dollar yet I wouldn't pass on it if I stumbled upon it at a flea market or yard sale. More of a long term investment area
Sgt_Rock_EasyCo Posted February 22, 2013 Share #12 Posted February 22, 2013 Beirut and Grenada were days apart and legitimate items from the items from those two conflicts are likely to go up in price. I remember being on alert during Beirut, and then we were sent off to the Island and felt solace that we could at least do something active. Friend of mine was in the USMC in Grenada and then their fleet was sent off to Beirut. He got the sorry end of two conflicts. I've got two footlockers of my old stuff set aside for my Daughter. Maybe when I'm gone one of you guys will purchase all my junk. Plus I reupped and went to the Berlin Brigade so I've got that stuff also. Jump Helmets Jungle Fatigues Junge Cammies (ERDL's) M-65's (Green and BDU) BDU's Class A's CLass B Jump and Jungle and Leg Boots Insignia Plaques Trophies Medals Patches Gear Pictures Recondo Paraphenia Posters Practice Grenade Coins Map of Southern half of Grenada. 505th PIR Stationary And who knows what else, I haven't looked in there in awhile. We're moving so I'm going to organize it and store it for one of you lucky stiffs. Rock
