I recently found a M5 bayonet that had masking tape wrapped around the handle for many years. After removing the tape, the plastic bayonet grips had very sticky tape residue left on them. Can anyone recommend a solvent to use to remove the tape residue without damaging or discoloring the plastic grips?

Acetone (nail polish remover). Take the grips off, test on the reverse (for discoloration, bad reaction) before going after the residue on the surface.

I use "Goo gone" for a lot, but test it first.

And wash your hands, it smells nice but it's poisonous & flammable.

Old Marine

Bestine rubber cement thinner or lighter fluid. the don't smell as bad as Goo gone but are just as flammable so be careful.
