What would be the indicators that a sandbag was a WW2 era sandbag? Were they issued on an individual basis for each Soldier/Marine to carry for use in the field and if so, how many per person? 268th C.A. Posted May 3, 2017 Share #2 Posted May 3, 2017 I have never heard of sandbags being issued.WW2 era sand bags I've seen and filled. Were all burlap and the same size as the new nylon type. USARV72 Posted May 3, 2017 Share #3 Posted May 3, 2017 Unless one lucks out and finds some in an Old surplus store just go to a industrial safety supply house, where we/ I got mine years ago.
