They were also used as flagships for the NATO squadron, STANAVFORLANT and UNITAS/SEATO cruises.

More USS BELKNAP (DLG-26) patches from a Radarman aboard for her early Vietnam cruises in the Tonkin Gulf. BELKNAP is mostly remembered for her collision with the KENNEDY in 1975, but she also served several tours in Vietnam and on Yankee Station prior to her Med deployments.
