I'm sure this is one of those items that are a dime a dozen to collectors but I get a kick out of. We found this compass on the back of my FILs work bench, with him being Navy I have no clue if it would have been issued to him or he "liberated" it while on Guam. Being a SeaBee more of his time was on land than aboard ship. Also in the bottom of a tool box was the (what I call) "onion skin" flyer on how to use it. I will try and scan it in sometime soon. Oh it's a shadow (sorry for the poor pic) and not a chip on the face.

The ones I see are usually much more than a "dime"! Nice compass and the family connection makes it that much better. I have one and use it while hiking, etc., and agree with you in getting a kick out of these old items, especially if you can use them still.

Love the "US ARMY" stamping and that your FIL was a Seabee!!! I'm betting a "liberation"!

Please share the instructions if you get a chance - would really like to see that.
