help with M1840 or M1851 Officers/NCO brass 'Eagle' buckle

I'm looking at this buckle and not sure if M1840 or M1851 and if original or not? I have looked online at different example but want to be sure!

Not sure to what you are referring when you say, "M1840". The Eagle-wreath plate was introduced in 1851. The new plate was announced in June 1851 in General Order No. 31.

 

Your plate and and keeper conform to the Regulation Pattern for enlisted men.

Very nice original M1851 plate and belt. I am sure it does no need to be said however do not put any preservative on the leather, that is an above average example.

From your second photo it looks like you are dealing with a heavy artillery short sword belt rig. That pattern of belt was introduced in the 1830s, but as others have pointed out, this one uses the 1851 pattern enlisted sword belt plate. The plate looks fine to me.
