RTFREY Posted October 16, 2008 Author Share #38 Posted October 16, 2008 I thank everyone for their comments. Yes it was a large and unique purchase that only happens once in a lifetime. I have had larger scorces monetary wise on German items from vets, but as you know it doesn't take much in that area to bring the value way up. My best group was 4 items from a vets family. He was a senior intel officer and part of the military government in Germany at the close of the war. The orders at the time were that ALL NAZI material including weapons were to be turned into the Mil Govt. to be destroyed, and he took his pick. It consisted of. An embroiderd regimental flag, chained SS Dagger, complete Generals uniform, and a presentation copy of MEIN KAMPF from Hitler to the mayor of a major city. The Book was signed by Hitler, set in Silver, and had Amber blocks on the cover. Bought it all for 1,000.00 and sold it for $23,000.00 Sorry I have the photos somewhere but then the moderators frown on things that are not US. The thing is goodies are still around. Visit estate sales even if no military items are listed because most times they don't list them. Ask questions when you go to sales, you may be surprised. I give a FINDERS FEE to everyone I know who puts me on to items I buy, and it prompts them to ask friends and relatives who were in the military. It does work. Anyway never give up. regards, Bob Frey I will post more photos of the USAF find latter. The problem is they are in my files by a number and not a subject so it's time consuming.
