RTFREY Posted October 16, 2008 Share #1 Posted October 16, 2008 Not a real recent purchase but one from a year or so ago. A friend who is a gun dealer called me and said he was in on a PRE sale of a large estate and he was purchasing all the weapons. He indicated there was also two big rooms full of military stuff if I wanted to talk to the lady handling the estate. Well we all know how that goes and we've all heard the story before. It would probably turn out to be a bunch of junk. I got there and walked into the rooms and almost had the BIG ONE. There WAS 2 rooms full of stuff. The guy who died was a retired USAF officer who never threw away anything. It was literally floor to ceiling. I asked her what she would like to get out of it and she said make an offer, " I just want to get rid of this stuff ". She'd been working on the estate which consisted of two houses packed with all kinds of things for two months with no help from any of the relatives and she was as hot as the July weather we were having. In addition the power was off and there was NO AIR and over a 100 in the two rooms. She was ready to deal so I said how about $900.00 and she said done, Get it out of here. There were OVER 400 items in the lot consisting of. Flight jackets. Parkas. Flight Helmets. Oxygen Masks. Flight Suits. Flight Boots. Survival Items including complete vest w. all the items. Field Uniforms. Dress uniforms. Knives. Binoculars. Books. Photos. Headsets. TWO MINT LEICA cameras with 7 different lenses. Flight and field manuals. Etc etc. It took TWO trips in a large SUV PACKED floor to ceiling to move it out. I put it on Ebay over a 6 month period and sold it for over $20,000. I took over 500 photos of the items and I'll try to post a few. Bottom line is, IT's STILL OUT THERE. regards, Bob Frey
