Pudgy (V) Posted April 2, 2017 Share #1 Posted April 2, 2017 I purchased this swivel bail a while ago, and was told this soldier served on the LST-597. I wondered if you guys could help in finding more out about him. His name looks to be Ayala. J. Sorry the pictures are turned, I couldn't straighten them. Thanks for you help! artur95 Posted April 2, 2017 Share #2 Posted April 2, 2017 In a document titled "Report of Changes: Officers and Enlisted Passengers of U.S.S. LST 597" from 19 January 1945, Raymond J Ayala is listed as a S2c. His service number is 275 13 89. You can find the document on Fold3.
artur95 Posted April 2, 2017 Share #3 Posted April 2, 2017 He is also on the muster rolls for the U.S.S. Panda (IX-125) for the months of February, April, and July 1946. Edit: He is listed as a F1c for all three months.

Pudgy (V) Posted April 5, 2017 Author Share #5 Posted April 5, 2017 Thank-you Artur95, glad I listened to the sellers story on this one. Looks like he was in the Philippines and the Oakinowana campains.
