29navy Posted March 31, 2017 Share #2 Posted March 31, 2017 Not the 29th nor the 1st. They wore gas impregnated wools. The 4th at Utah wore gas impregnated HBTs.

everforward Posted March 5, 2018 Share #6 Posted March 5, 2018 I will get back with a reply on this thread in hopefully a couple of days, but I am pretty sure that the original operational orders for the 116th Infantry were designated as wearing HBTs over their wool uniforms that were impregnated......I can consult a set of orders that were actually carried ashore and further inland on 6 June 44 in the archives at the Stonewall Brigade Museum. everforward Posted March 8, 2018 Share #7 Posted March 8, 2018 Hello, First waves at Omaha Beach...assault troops. They wore the gas impregnated hbt pants over the wool trousers correct? Thank you, Pat 29Navy's post is essentially correct and confirmed with copies of the op orders we have in the archives; the units within the 29th ID that were under the command of the 1st ID while landing on Omaha Beach (the 116th) wore gas-impregnated wool shirts and trousers, along with gas-impregnated M41 field jackets, leggings and boots.
