Hello,

First waves at Omaha Beach...assault troops. They wore the gas impregnated hbt pants over the wool trousers correct?

Thank you,

Pat

I will get back with a reply on this thread in hopefully a couple of days, but I am pretty sure that the original operational orders for the 116th Infantry were designated as wearing HBTs over their wool uniforms that were impregnated......I can consult a set of orders that were actually carried ashore and further inland on 6 June 44 in the archives at the Stonewall Brigade Museum.

29Navy's post is essentially correct and confirmed with copies of the op orders we have in the archives; the units within the 29th ID that were under the command of the 1st ID while landing on Omaha Beach (the 116th) wore gas-impregnated wool shirts and trousers, along with gas-impregnated M41 field jackets, leggings and boots.
