Is it correct to put the staff sergeant ensignia pin in this type of uniform for WWII display?

No. Pin on rank insignia are Vietnam to modern era. The drawn on stripes as you have on the sleeve are correct.

That is also what I know but these pictures makes me wonder why they have the collar rank? The first one is captioned Lt USMC 1945 and the second picture, im not sure if its a collar rank pin. By the way thank you for answering my question.

The inked rank was more seen post WW2.

Your shirt has the more rounded upper pocket which is a later pattern.

Officers did st times wear pin on rank but there wasnt pin om rank for enlisted in WW2.

I do have a WW2 with a single sewn on rank but this is an exception. The veteran served state side.

The pictures that you show are officers. Officers would have rank insignia pinned on the collar but not enlisted men. Enlisted men would have painted on chevrons just as you jacket looks now. Leave the jacket as it is now, pinned on enlisted rank would be incorrect for WWII.

That is a nice jacket.
