Nic Posted March 12, 2017 Share #1 Posted March 12, 2017 I thought I'd share a recent addition to my library. Over the years I have been trying to focus my collection on vets from my neck of the woods (Northern California). This book caught my attention as the original owner was from the Napa area. He was a bombardier with the 92nd Bomb Group and him and his crew were shot down on March 16, 1944 by German fighters. As for the contents of the book, it is pretty amazing. It lists all of the POWs in the south compound of Stalag Luft III, along with information as to their service, capture, injuries, awards, etc. The best part of it was when I got the book in hand. The original owner was very active in POW reunions and apparently took this book to one of them. Contained within are the autographs of 23 other POWs, including Tuskegee Airman, Lt. Col. Alexander Jefferson. The seller never disclosed this, so it was a great surprise! I've attached a few entries and autographs to show a few of the 23.
