MoH in a book

Hi,

In the book "The Call of Duty", page 47, a soldier is presented with his MoH. I am not quite sure the name is correct, any thoughts? Thomas E McCall is a recipient of the MoH but the picture is different.

What is the first medal, second row?

Finally, why the PH is in the second row, especially after the 2 French and 1 Italian medals?

Thank you for your help.

Thomas E, McCall

His story. He died in 1965 at 49. As we see he died as he lived, a Hero.

That medal you asked about may be the Korean Service Medal. Since he out of the Army and posing with these particular medals on his VFW uniform, it seems it was just an ad hoc application.

He is wearing an American Legion uniform, not VFW.
