BROBS Posted March 6, 2017 Share #1 Posted March 6, 2017 For $2 I won't be butt hurt if it's not. No markings I can find but sure seems good. Any help greatly appreciated! -Brian
268th C.A. Posted March 6, 2017 Share #2 Posted March 6, 2017 Looks WW2. The lock down keeper is flat. Looks like metal was painted blck.

BROBS Posted March 7, 2017 Author Share #5 Posted March 7, 2017 BTW I did type it correctly in the title as 'GARAND' but apparently the iPhone doesn't recognize one of the most prevalent rifles of ww2. Thanks to all who replied! -Brian Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
coolhandluke Posted March 7, 2017 Share #6 Posted March 7, 2017 Based on the webbing weave and hardware, I would say that it very well may be a Danish sling rather than USGI.
Costa Posted March 7, 2017 Share #7 Posted March 7, 2017 the clamp down keeper has the large rounded lock where as post or later 50's were small
coolhandluke Posted March 7, 2017 Share #8 Posted March 7, 2017 Danish slings also have a flat buckle as seen below. Also compare the weave of the webbing...
BROBS Posted March 7, 2017 Author Share #9 Posted March 7, 2017 The end of the danish sling is different. Look at the crimp. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
BROBS Posted March 7, 2017 Author Share #10 Posted March 7, 2017 Also the center bar isn't raised on the danish adjuster Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
coolhandluke Posted March 7, 2017 Share #11 Posted March 7, 2017 The end of the danish sling is different. Look at the crimp. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Both styles of crimping can be found on Danish slings. You may very well be correct regarding the center bar on the adjustment buckle as I cannot definitively say whether or not I have seen one with a raised bar. All I can say is that both the color and weave of the webbing look to be consistent with faded green examples of Dane slings so it was worth looking into the possibility. BROBS Posted March 7, 2017 Author Share #12 Posted March 7, 2017 It could be! I'll compare to a known ww2 and see. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
3IDGarand Posted March 9, 2017 Share #13 Posted March 9, 2017 Maybe these can help:
BROBS Posted March 9, 2017 Author Share #14 Posted March 9, 2017 Man I dunno. Looks the same to me. Note the danish end clips seem blued but the end of this one seems phosphated? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
BROBS Posted March 9, 2017 Author Share #15 Posted March 9, 2017 Also the d-tip looks like the one posted. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
ccyooper Posted March 13, 2017 Share #16 Posted March 13, 2017 Looks foreign to me but either way you saved yourself a few bucks. The cmp sells them for $5. If you dig around in the box at the north store there are always a few WWII slings in the box but the regulars snag the nice dated ones as soon as they are put out.
