northcoastaero Posted March 2, 2017 Share #1 Posted March 2, 2017 I recently stumbled upon an image of a Grumman C-2A Greyhound loadmaster wearing a new type of Life Preserver Unit with the desert tan / coyote tan AIRSAVE survival vest variant equipped the integrated harness. The LPU is the around the waist, up the back, and around the neck style and is offered in two versions: -LPU-21E/P Manually inflated only for rotary-wing and non-ejection seat aircraft. Possible non-ejection seat fixed-wing aircraft would be: C-2A; E-2C,D; V-22; E-6B; P-8A; P-3C; and C-130. -LPU-23D/P Automatically / manually inflated for ejection seat aircraft. Possible aircraft would be: F/A-18; EA-18G; T-6A,B; T-45A,C; EA-6B; AV-8B; TAV-8B. https://www.defense.gov/Photos/Photo-Gallery?igphoto=2001185139 http://www.switlik.com/military/lpu-21 Just thought the flight gear enthusiasts and collectors would have in interest in this. I wonder if there is an upgraded version of the FLU-8/P series automatic inflators for the LPU-23D/P ?
