Received them. Here are a couple of links on VT-5. It appears that the squadron flew the T-34B at one time.

I will take a look through some of my reference materials for additional information.

Gerrad, Yes the patch is authentic. It is actually a Navy Training Squadron. Many Marines have probably worn it, however, since Marine go through Navy flight training and earn Naval Aviator Wings. I believe that Traron 5 was the squadron that taught students how to land on the carrier in the 60's and 70's. Traron 5 is gone now as I believe this feat is accomplished by the individual jet training squadrons. Semper Fi - Jeff
