aussie digger Posted February 26, 2017 Share #1 Posted February 26, 2017 Hi All, Here is a part recovered from a B-24 wreck. I am wondering if anyone is able to ID what this part is? Thanks Jason

Bluehawk Posted February 26, 2017 Share #4 Posted February 26, 2017 Question: The gnarled (silver) tip end doesn't have any threads inside it, does it? If not, then this looks a lot like some sort of small hydraulic servo valve - maybe for opening a port or flight surface assist... something like that. 5thwingmarty Posted February 26, 2017 Share #5 Posted February 26, 2017 Views of the two ends and something for size reference might help. The number on the part would identify it if you can find someone with a B-24 parts catalog. I have (somewhere) such a catalog for the B-17 but not for the B-24. phantomfixer Posted March 2, 2017 Share #6 Posted March 2, 2017 The spring behind the gear drive reminds me of a bendix style spring...and the ratchet style detents on the gear...lead me to think an electrical driven gear with a mechanical/manual override Maybe a lower turret drive..or something similar
aussie digger Posted March 2, 2017 Author Share #7 Posted March 2, 2017 Thank you guys! I will get some more photos of the ends when I get home along with something for size reference.
