WW1 American Red Cross dictionary: A gift to my great-grandfather who served in the Belgian army

Hi,

As part of an inheritance I received this American Red Cross dictionary that belonged to my great-grandfather in World War I.

I thought I'd share it on here. It's a complete translation from French to Dutch and Dutch to French. It says it was a gift from the American Red Cross on the inside. The dictionary was printed in Paris by the Van Cuyck printing company. I'm amazed at how generous the Americans were for all allied troops, especially at the beginning of the war.

I'm sure my great-grandfather who served in the Belgian army at the time was very pleased with it, especially since he served abroad and probably wasn't very good at French.

I hope it serves some kind of purpose showing it on here.

Thanks for looking

Best regards

Ken

Thank you! I have some other personal records of his which are all related to his time in the army. But I was especially surprised by this piece and the support coming from your nation that early in WWI.

Best regards

Ken
