BROBS Posted February 13, 2017 Share #1 Posted February 13, 2017 A guy's file I have says he was awarded the "Expert Marksman Carbine" medal... and repeats this term in a few places. Was there a ever a medal specifically for carbine? Or would this have been the "Expert Rifle" medal and they were just defining it as carbine? I don't believe there ever was or is but I just find it odd they referred to it this way multiple times. thanks, -Brian
roadrunner Posted February 13, 2017 Share #2 Posted February 13, 2017 I don't think there is a extra medal. Could it be the "Expert Marksman" shooting badge with "Carbine" bar ? I have seen a picture of a USAF officer wearing a USAF pilot wing and also a USN wing. Could it be he earned this item at a interdivisional shooting ? Michael . 268th C.A. Posted February 13, 2017 Share #3 Posted February 13, 2017 yep here's a more vintage one... I don't think the Navy ever wore these badges ?
72psb Posted February 13, 2017 Share #4 Posted February 13, 2017 My quess is that he received the same medal as for rifle. The navy has rifle and pistol medals and do not get as specific as the Army. I think it would be the same medal for a revolver or a pistol.

Correct My DD-214 says "Expert Marksman (M-14)" and "Expert Marksman (.45)". I received the Expert Marksman Rifle and Expert Marksman Pistol medals & ribbons.
