Gator Posted February 2, 2017 Share #1 Posted February 2, 2017 Greetings, Hope that it is OK to share this photo that I have that is part of a Royal Marine Commando Grouping that I have. I am not a direct Disney collector but do read through the postings here and never knew or saw a previous posting depicting a Disney character in foreign service. It may be hard to see in the scans, so I blew it up, but Pluto is holding a Fairbairn-Sykes fighting knife between his teeth. Have others seen such Disney related artwork in foreign services? Hope you enjoy. Mark

Gator Posted February 2, 2017 Author Share #6 Posted February 2, 2017 Kat, Not sure as to location but would believe possibly England. I have paperwork that goes with the photo that identifies all of the individuals. Mark

The Iron Brigade Posted February 3, 2017 Share #9 Posted February 3, 2017 "Possibly at the cessation of WW2 Hostilities, according to 'Four Five The story of 45 Commando Royal Marines 1943 - 1971' by David Young a unit flag was introduced, dark green with a red dagger in the centre and the numbers 45 on either side. Seems each troop or company had their own flag or sign coming into prominence in early 1945. 'A' Troop had The Saint figure from Leslie Charteris's Saint, B Troop nicknamed Butcher Troop had a white cleaver with the motto 'Bash on Regardless', C Troop had the Union Flag with Globe and Laurel with various Commando battle honours and D Troop always known as 'Dog Troop' had the colourful Walt Disney's Pluto with green beret and dagger between his teeth."
