CharliesYearOldYogurt Posted January 27, 2017 Share #1 Posted January 27, 2017 Hello, I recently bought a WW1 US green box respirator. I am very worried if the thing does contain dangerous chemicals in the filter. I have read conflicting reports on the subject. Please add as much info as possible on the subject. Thanks! ludwigh1980 Posted January 27, 2017 Share #2 Posted January 27, 2017 I believe the Imperial War Museum in the UK determined that small box respirators have asbestos in them. I have not been able to determine if US made examples also have this material in the filters.
268th C.A. Posted January 27, 2017 Share #3 Posted January 27, 2017 All Ii can tell you is I would not breathe though any gas mask. I have a Gulf War one as well. It was there and I wont use it. I have a WW1 as well but it just hangs on the mannequin in the bag. He can use it he wants too. LOL. There is a thread on WW1 gas mask here.
