Green on Green Wool, USAAF SSG Rank

Just wondering if anyone can identify this for me. I have searched online and found nothing similar. This jacket belonged to a member of the 15th AAF stationed in Italy. Maybe a theater made variant? Any comments are welcome. Thanks!

I have several of these in my collection. Since the owner was stationed in Italy it might be logical to assume they were made in Italy. If you have his records, look to see when and where he was promoted to SSG.

 

I have an identical SSG as well as Techs 3-4-5 and Corporal in this set. There is also a similar set but the background is a darker brown. I have all but the Master Sergeant and First Sergeant in this set.

Then there's those U.S. made Green on Green chevrons, or as I like to categorize them OD on Dark Green, they crop up from time to time on uniforms, don't think anyone knows why the variant, I once hypothesized that they may of been made with the idea of wearing them on HBTs during the war. And go figure I can;t find any topics on them, there were quite a few uniform that had these types n them

Foreign made chevrons will show up in all sorts of weird shades of the colors they were supposed to be. Even those made in the States are not all consistant in coloring. I think that is one reason collecting chevrons is so interesting.
