24th Infantry Regt

Not really a DI collector but picked these up one time as I didnt recognize the design.Had them about 5 years and going through things came across them and decided to try and identify them.

 

Seems the 24th was comprised of mainly Black soldiers and hailed back to the days of the Buffalo Soldiers Regiments.they had a pretty colorful history and a marked past with an incident known as the Houston Riot of 1917.I had not recalled this incident and its interesting(and tragic) to read.

 

The DIs are both pin backs and not a matched set.
