67Rally Posted June 6, 2016 Share #151 Posted June 6, 2016 This one is my favorite.. Pre-war USS Houston.. For those who aren't familiar, CA-30, USS Houston was sunk March 1, 1942 in the Battle of Sunda Straight. Only 368 of her 1,061 detatchment survived. This is a gorgeous example. Weaving goes through the cloth, not just applied letters. This is one of my favorites!!

JBaird Posted July 28, 2021 Share #154 Posted July 28, 2021 Here are two USS Houston (CA-30) pillow shams. They are from the estate of Frederick C. Jasmine, who served on the USS Houston approx. 1939 - 1940. As "67 Rally" noted above, the weave goes through the material as noted in the second picture. One of the shams is in excellent shape, the other is faded.
