Backtheattack

When I visited a new little museum at Köditz, 5 kilometres west of Hof/Northern Bavaria, I read the story of a local resident dealing with the end of war at Köditz. I was familiar with this time because I have a copy of the 537th AAA Bat. in my archive.

From the diary:

"..we moved twice on the 15th, to Schelgel (correct is Schlegel near the highway 9 Nürnberg-Berlin) and then to Koditz. The security guards on B-9 halftrack shot and killed a german soldier when he failled to halt at beeing challenged. The 90th division infantry where now fighting in Hof.."

Here is the sketch the man did:

You can read "Panzer", this is the halftrack in the report, 2 is the place of the german soldier killed, "Kirche" means church.

Here is the place today:

nearly the same sight as in 1945, church at right, and at the corner of the church place "2"
