tigerfan Posted January 6, 2017 Share #1 Posted January 6, 2017 Just acquired a grouping to a WWII aviator and this piece was among his things. It is made of a plastic type material and measures 2-1/4" in diameter. It appears to be the center disc for a control/steering wheel but I don't know for sure. Is anyone familiar with this? Thanks ! Swifter Posted January 6, 2017 Share #4 Posted January 6, 2017 What you have there is an original Grumman logo cap fitted to the hub of the control wheels used in the S-2 and HU-16 Albatross. Since the hub dimensions were the same, similar caps were used in Grumman's early corporate G-1 and G-2 Gulfstreams. Attached is a photo of a later variation of that cap in my S-2 wheel.
