northcoastaero Posted January 4, 2017 Share #2 Posted January 4, 2017 The helmet appears to be an APH-6A if it had a single visor assy. or an APH-6B if it had a dual visor assy. Possibly manufactured by Gentex Corporation. VP-5 would be the Mad Foxes. Needs three fitting pads and leather cushions for the ear cups also. Could you provide a better image of the visor track on the right side (metal or plastic?)? jbuck1945 Posted January 4, 2017 Author Share #5 Posted January 4, 2017 Thanks for the info, would a single visor from a APH5 fit?
northcoastaero Posted January 4, 2017 Share #6 Posted January 4, 2017 The APH-6A visor assy. would have the following parts: -White all plastic visor housing with solid back-not open spaces. Without gull winged cutouts on lower front edge. -Dark or clear (most likely for patrol acft.) single visor with nose cutout for the MS-22001 (A-13A) oxygen mask. -Tapered white visor lock knob with large center screw with smaller LH stamped into the silver colored screw. -1-pair or just one yellowed white side track(s) for the visor. -1-pair clear white spacers for the visor side tracks. -6 plated single visor assy. screws with Phillips head. -6 t-nuts for the screws. These may still be in the helmet underneath the styrofoam liner. -The APH-6 series helmets were issued in sizes medium or large. -The later APH-5A may use a plastic visor assy. as found on the APH-6A.
