MWDVET Posted March 31, 2025 #51 Posted March 31, 2025 Agree. Hopefully a photo will pop up at some point. That said, nice collection GAZOO! I am also a collector of veterinary/farrier insignia.
MWDVET Posted April 6, 2025 #52 Posted April 6, 2025 Great image of a WW1farrier with the winged horseshoe collar disc.

MWDVET Posted April 6, 2025 #55 Posted April 6, 2025 From the associated documents with this image it appears it would be between 1917-1919.
MWDVET Posted April 12, 2025 #56 Posted April 12, 2025 Does anyone have a digital copy of the Naugatuck Novelty Company catalog or link?I did see a post from around 2017 that had a link, but it does not work. I think it would be great to see what collar disks they were selling. It would definitely help weed out the restrikes.

I don't have a link, but from what I have seen they usually are the more uncommon disks, e.g. USS, IP, 10 Cavalry MG, 1st pattern Tanker, USMC, etc. So the more rare the disc is the more I look closely at it, but I guess that goes without saying.
MWDVET Posted April 13, 2025 #58 Posted April 13, 2025 Thanks for responding. I am hopeful someone will dig up the old catalog, but not overly optimistic. In the meantime, caveat emptor…..
Remark Posted July 7, 2025 #59 Posted July 7, 2025 Just to update this thread. Attached is a picture of 5 dimple back, aka likely restrike, disks.
MWDVET Posted July 8, 2025 #60 Posted July 8, 2025 I appreciate you circling back around to provide more of your expertise. I continue to be educated. Thanks.
