Twillie2 Posted January 1, 2017 #1 Posted January 1, 2017 When I was a kid I lived for shows like Combat!, and Once an Eagle was, to me they represented some of the ideals I had hoped to have when I grew up. Courage, Honesty, Candid. Cheesy, I know, but worth mentioning. R/ Twillie2
38Driver Posted January 2, 2017 #2 Posted January 2, 2017 Much preferred the book "Once an Eagle". Anton Myrer the author
USMCR79 Posted January 2, 2017 #3 Posted January 2, 2017 I agree that the book was better than the mini series - Anton Myrer was a WWII Marine - Other books were "The Last Convertible" and "Love and War" - I thought the books were better than the movies Bill
flyboy53 Posted January 3, 2017 #4 Posted January 3, 2017 Concur. The mini series is good but, typical of any movie, uses a lot of license and ends at one dramatic point. The book is so much better. For me, after getting to know the main characters, the last chapter in the book is sad.
