45govt Posted December 27, 2016 Share #1 Posted December 27, 2016 Hello Updated the case of early mostly Indian War era marksmanship awards. The main new additions are the first bronze Sharpshooter cross, (top center) only 1000 made, and the gold filled sharpshooter cross with three year bar by Bailey Banks and Biddle

Brig Posted December 27, 2016 Share #4 Posted December 27, 2016 Never seen a BB&B sharpshooter. Plenty of experts, but not a sharpshooter. Can we see close ups? Additionally, the Sharpshooter badge suspended from a Marksman bar...can you tell us the story behind those? I own one, I've seen them on period portraits, I believe I have a portrait of a Marine wearing one...but I've never been able to decipher the history of that odd combo

There is a separate thread http://www.usmilitariaforum.com/forums/index.php?/topic/251980-the-combined-marksman-sharpshooter-badge/&do=findComment&comment=2015987 Here is one that was made up the recipient and a photo of a very interesting made up badge
