Blew my giftcard to the local antique mall today. Picked up a US Boyt 42-dated 1911 holster that has been partially re-dyed to black on the front. Also an M-1 carbine mag pouch dated 1943 (maker too faded to read). And finally a shoulder holster that I can't quite pin down. I've seen it described alternately as an M7, M3, and 'aviator's holster'. Made by Western MFG CO in San Francisco, number is 7791627. Anyone know the official designation for it?

The shoulder holster appears to be a garden variety M7 holster missing the across-the-chest strap. (Possibly that strap is not in the photo.) See pp 319-323 US MILITARY HOLSTERS AND PISTOL CARTRIDGE BOXES, E.S. Meadows.
