I picked this one up about a year ago to add to my collection of items relating to the USS Hermitage (LSD-34).

Here's a couple photos of my grandfather's jacket from his tour to Japan in the early 50's. He was Army, used a USN jacket, painted LT bars on the shoulders (wasn't an LT) and had the Asian woman painted on the back. It makes for quite an interesting piece. I paint brushed a couple of spots on the painting to be forum friendly.

I thought I would post photos of this 'tour jacket' to the USMC 1st Recon Battalion ' I've had for some time. As you can see, the jacket is made from a poncho liner and has some interesting patches on the front and back. The jacket has a great story behind it as it was brought back from Vietnam by a female volunteer of the Red Cross who swapped a set of her underwear for the jacket! Maybe the underwear insignia with wings has something to do with this trade?

I appreciate any comments.

Paul

Picked this one up a while back. Made from a liner. Must have been a gift, only 12 inches seam to seam.a27407020b1013dd5e05413b68644af3.jpgc17df565a76cf7e6c39265387796002b.jpg817446470d8fd860ded2eeb84ecda22d.jpga567e89e5bf52ea414ac5350f8b6b49b.jpg7c8049b14e4bc68653bc278a2fc20f5c.jpgb685a38fa85101dcd33dedfb491edf00.jpgd0da38823efed70d9ef9af4dd3b1f8db.jpg94f8afa745203ddcd6781e2974aa1b8e.jpg86c50648e3761cac74ebd1128b215879.jpg

This running outfit was made at Camp Schwab, Okinawa in 1975.  I don’t know what ever happened to the trousers.

here is one of my favorites. Given to me by the veteran himself (he knew I had bought his tiger stripes and he wanted me to have his other items). He has sadly since passed away. C 2/47th Infantry from 1969-1970. He said the scariest day of his life was when they went into Cambodia and were guarding a large cache.
