vonradmil Posted December 17, 2016 Share #1 Posted December 17, 2016 I have this uniform which I recently picked up. I believe it is a WWII or maybe postwar experimental uniform. It has no spec tags, only the size in the jacket and the trousers, and an ink stamp that reads #2 It is made out of OD cotton poplin type material. I would think that it is an experimental uniform as it has the #2 stamped in it as in "which uniform was the best? Number one? Number two? etc. Any help would be great. Thanks

stealthytyler Posted December 17, 2016 Share #7 Posted December 17, 2016 I get an early Vietnam era feeling from this. Just my 2 cents.
USdog Posted December 17, 2016 Share #8 Posted December 17, 2016 I remember seeing a jacket that looked like this one and it was deemed WWII experimental.
American Graffiti Posted December 17, 2016 Share #9 Posted December 17, 2016 I think it's variation of the late WWII experimental jungle uniform, made in a windproof cotton. Same tags buttons etc, but with weird elements of the US made lend lease stuff i.e. the loops on the back of the shirt. Also haven't seen those wrist adjusters before. Very cool. The trousers are basically the HBT model but in poplin. Tags are same as the 40s experimental ones, I would date to 1945/6. The experimental jungle uniform did see some use in late WWII apparently, think there is an old thread on here somewhere with a couple of photos of the shirt in use. vintageproductions Posted December 17, 2016 Share #10 Posted December 17, 2016 There is a thread on here, someplace, about these. I have a set of this identified to one of the Marines attached to OSS during WWII.
