29navy Posted December 7, 2016 Share #1 Posted December 7, 2016 Took this picture last September on the battleship North Carolina in Wilmington, NC. Walking up the brow I saw a Kingfisher on the mooring line and its namesake OS2U Kingfisher on deck.

29navy Posted December 8, 2016 Author Share #6 Posted December 8, 2016 Very nice shot...timeless, no clutter...imagine flying that on a bombing run...is that on a catapult? or sea launched It's catapult launched. However, the catapults are not on the battleship. They were taken off when she was in mothballs. [i haven't won the big lottery so haven't been able to have a set made]. The raised platform just in front of the Kingfisher center float is where a catapult was mounted. There's a similar one on the starboard side. TLeo Posted December 8, 2016 Share #7 Posted December 8, 2016 Nice photo. It has been quite a few years since I visited her. I should go back down sometime.
