jeffs1130 Posted December 3, 2016 Share #1 Posted December 3, 2016 Anyone know, would these be WWII USMC issue General Stars? They are pin back and marked Amico Sterling... Large fat, rounded style star Came from an Armored Veteran who was field promoted to Lt. in WWII, revived PH, BS, & SS Medals. He also served in Korea, in a graves registration unit... No idea how he got these!
Brig Posted December 18, 2016 Share #2 Posted December 18, 2016 Officers bought their own rank, but yes, these types of smooth stars were popular with many USMC Generals
Justin B. Posted December 19, 2016 Share #3 Posted December 19, 2016 USMC regs specified "smooth, slightly dapped or domed" stars for general ranks in the WW2 period. The USN also specified "plain, raised and rounded" stars for collar rank. The Navy regs changed to "pyramidal" stars in 1961, not sure about the Marines. Justin B.
