Datreedude Posted December 3, 2016 Share #1 Posted December 3, 2016 Hello all, I recently went to an estate sale, in one of the rooms was a large amount of fabric, dating from the early 1900's to the 1960's. In one of the boxes, I found this piece of woodland camouflage fabric. The pattern is very nice, the problem is the fabric is very thin, almost like a summer dress shirt thin. Anyone have any input? Thanks in advance. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G870A using Tapatalk
No Quarter Posted December 3, 2016 Share #2 Posted December 3, 2016 It may be fabric for the WWII USMC mosquito helmet cover? Jacob
Datreedude Posted December 3, 2016 Author Share #3 Posted December 3, 2016 Could rightly be, it is entirely too thin to make any uniform, unless you wanted a snazzy camouflage dress shirt! The piece that I have is a yard wide, and 4 yards long! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G870A using Tapatalk
Bodes Posted December 3, 2016 Share #4 Posted December 3, 2016 I would guess commercial hunting material.....Bodes
Datreedude Posted December 3, 2016 Author Share #5 Posted December 3, 2016 The estate that it was purchased from was from a WWII Army Air Force Officer, so that is why I immediately thought military. doyler Posted December 3, 2016 Share #6 Posted December 3, 2016 There was a thin camo clothing bag many Marines purchased in the 50s and early 60s.
'Flage Guy Posted December 3, 2016 Share #7 Posted December 3, 2016 That is strange, because it's printed in the "reversed" color scheme that the Marine Corps Ponchoes are printed in. Maybe it's a piece of the fabric that was used to vulcanize to the waterproof material to manufacture the Poncho?
Tom Pearcy Posted January 6, 2017 Share #8 Posted January 6, 2017 Looks like poncho pattern, maybe before treated with waterproofing.
